As we begin the New Year, our AGT family has grown once again with the starting of our new intern Sophie Thomas. Here’s 5 minutes of questions with her so you can get to know her a little better.
What’s your name and what’s your job position?
I’m Sophie, and I’m the new Events Management and Sponsorship Intern.
Give us your back story?
Well, I was born and raised in a small town in Wales #cymruambyth, but have always been your typical small-town girl dreaming of a life in the big city.
I’ve always loved being creative, whether that was writing, singing, acting, or expressing myself through fashion and beauty. My favourite books are generally anything by Margaret Atwood or Doris Lessing, but my all-time fave will always be ‘The Great Gatsby’. My love to read and figuring out what makes people tick led me to study English at the University of Bristol. I’m in my last year at the moment (time’s going by so quickly!), and hope to go into a career in Marketing/ Events Management in the future.
I really enjoy having little projects, and always have something on the go (my Mum says I was born restless!). I’m currently VIP and Marketplace Director for FUZE 2018 which is a charity Fashion Show run by Bristol University. It’s been so amazing being involved. I’m also really big on being giving back, which was why Annabel’s company interested me so much.
How did you get involved at AGT?
I actually got involved through Annabel’s other intern, Lauren. We were friends having worked together last year. She sent me the University of Bristol internship scheme link and I couldn’t stop myself.
What are your likes and dislikes?
I love dressing up, baking, online shopping, brunch. And the Guilty Feminist Podcast. It’s amazing. I dislike writing essays and people who talk in the library.
5 fun facts?
- I am obsessed with magpies. Annabel and Lauren are already very aware of my craziness.
- I’m actually an ordained minister in America (inspired by Joey off Friends).
- I’m a level 3 Sugarcraft Artisan Baker.
- I drink waaaaaaay too much coffee.
- I don’t count lipstick as a luxury item and will buy it even when I’m exceptionally broke.
What’s your goal for your career?
To be in a job that I love to wake up to everyday. To make a million, wouldn’t be so bad either.
What’s your goal for your personal life?
To never take the people I love for granted. To experience anything and everything.
What do you like most about your job?
Seeing Annabel and Lauren, of course. But also using my skills in an industry that I’m so passionate about.
